Library Cards:

Obtaining a Resident Library Card:

Anyone wishing to obtain a library card, will be required to present a photo ID and proof of residence.  Library cards will be issued to residents of the Village of Shabbona free of charge as part of your tax-supported library service.  This card entitles use of the facilities and to borrow materials under library rules and regulations.  Anyone owning real estate property within the Village of Shabbona limits and pays taxes to the library, may obtain one library card free of charge upon presentation of a photo ID and tax bill.  Resident cards are valid for three years.

Obtaining a Non-Resident Library Card:

Pursuant to Illinois state law statute ILCS 16/30-55.60, those who live in areas where no library services are provided may purchase a card at the nearest library within their school district.  The fee for a non-resident library card is $75 per household per year.  All requirements for application of a non-resident library card are the same as for a resident card.

(If you are unsure if you pay taxes to the library, please check your tax bill.)

We provide a number of fun and educational programs for children and adults throughout the year.  Including two weekly programs.  Every Wednesday we have Toddler Time at 10AM and every Saturday we have Story Time at 10AM.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates as we add new programs/events!

(Since we are a public library, ALL are welcome to attend our programs and events.  You do not need to be a Village of Shabbona resident or library patron to attend.)
